Stand up paddleboarders stand on boards that are floating on the water, and use a paddle to propel themselves through the water. The sport was documented in a 2013 report that identified it as the outdoor sporting activity with the most first-time participants in the United States that year. Variations include flat water paddling, racing, surfing, whitewater SUP, yoga, and fishing.

SUP Boards

Most SUP boards are in the range of 10–12 feet, with boards over 12 feet used mostly for racing, and those under 10 feet primarily used for SUP surfing.  The size board a user would choose depends on the user’s weight, although height can also be a factor. Wider boards give better stability for beginners, as welly as users who plan to do casual activities with their board, such as yoga, touring and fishing. Narrower boards are more agile and are mostly used by advanced paddlers and for SUP surfing.Due to the thickness required of a SUP, solid boards have a foam core that is then covered in one of many materials available, such as wood veneers, fiberglass, or carbon fiber.  Epoxy resin can be added on top of those materials to create a stronger board.Another option is an inflatable SUP, or iSUP, which is built from a drop-stitch core of thousands of fine threads, that is then covered by one or more layers of  PVC. iSUP can be used for all types of paddling activities, and when deflated, can be small enough to fit into a backpack.Many SUP and iSUP boards utilize a single, centered removable fin. This is to aide in stabilization and used mostly in calm and low wave paddling.  Occasionally second and third, smaller fins are added for surfing or additional stability. 

ASSUMPTION AND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF RISKS, 

RELEASE OF LIABILITY, AND INDEMNITY AGREEMENT

In consideration of being allowed to participate in water sports events and activities and/or being provided with watersports recreational property or services, for myself and any minor children for whom I am parent, legal guardian or otherwise responsible, and for my/our heirs, personal representatives or assigns:

1) ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF RISKS. I acknowledge that WATERSPORTS AND WATER RECREATIONAL ACTIVITES

ARE VERY DANGEROUS and involves the risk of SERIOUS INJURY and/or DEATH. Risks include, but not limited to, changing tides and water flow, collisions, capsizing, inclement weather, equipment failure, operator error, all of which can cause serious injury, paralysis and/or death.

2) EXPRESS ASSUMPTION OF RISK AND RESPONSIBILITY. I agree to assume responsibility for all the risks of the activity, whether above or not. EVEN THOSE RISKS ARISING OUT OF THE NEGLIGENCE OF THE RELEASEES NAMED BELOW. My/our participation in the activity is purely voluntary. I assume full responsibility for myself and any minor children for whom I am responsible, for any bodily injury, accident, illness, paralysis, death, or loss of personal property even IF CAUSED IN WHOLE OR IN PART, BY THE NEGLIGENCE OF THE RELEASEES NAMED BELOW, to the fullest

extent permitted by law.

I understand that I am the only person authorized to operate any watercraft provided to me, and I will not allow anyone else to operate the watercraft. I have basic swimming knowledge and experience. I agree to wear an MPA approved personal floatation device (life jacket) while participating in the activity or riding in any watercraft and will also require all passengers to wear a life jacket. I am familiar with and will comply with all rules and regulations for safe operation of the watercraft. I have not consumed any alcohol or drugs and will not engage in any water sports activities while intoxicated.

3) RELEASE. I hereby release PaddleVibes.co , its principals, directors, officers, agents, employees and volunteers, and each and every landowner, municipal and/or government agency, specifically Sentosa/ Eastcoast park, Pasir ris Park, Changi beach park Development Corporation, including all its affiliated entities, upon whose property an activity is conducted (“owner”), if any, (collectively “Releasees”) FROM ANY AND ALL LIABILITY OF ANY NATURE, FOR ANY AND ALL INJURY OR DAMAGE (INCLUDING DEATH) TO ME OR MY MINOR CHILDREN OR ANY OTHER PERSONS as a result of my/our participation in the activity, EVEN IF CAUSED BY THE NEGLIGENCE OF ANY OF THE RELEASEES NAMED ABOVE OR ANY OTHER PERSON (INCLUDING MYSELF) to the fullest extent permitted by law. I agree to assume responsibility of all damages to equipment rented to me, specifically if I am involved in a collision, whether intentional or accidental.

4) INDEMNITY. I hereby agree to INDEMNIFY AND SAVE AND HOLD HARMLESS the Releases and each of them FROM ANY LOSS, LIABILITY, DAMAGE OR COSTS they may incur arising out of or related to the use of any watercraft provided to me or arising out of or related to my participation in any watersports or water recreational activity, WHETHER CAUSED BY THE NEGLIGENCE OF THE RELEASEES OR OTHERWISE.

5) EQUIPMENT RESPONSIBILITY. I hereby agree that I shall be fully and unconditionally responsible for using all equipment, in a safe and responsible manner and shall abide by the instructions given to me. I shall also be fully responsible for any passengers I take, who must first co-sign this form and agree to be bounded by all the terms above clauses.

I agree to be liable for any lost, stolen, or damaged equipment at its new wholesale price. Equipment that are cracked or creased in the hull, craft that cracked or creased in the hull or rails; or masts that are bent or cracked or sails that are torn or ripped, paddles that are cracked or creased, during the entire period of usage by me and/or co-helper in all and any circumstances are considered destroyed.

I HAVE READ THIS ASSUMPTION AND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF RISKS, RELEASE OF LIABILITY, AND INDEMNITY AGREEMENT. 

I UNDERSTAND THAT BY COMPLETING THIS DOCUMENT, I AM WAIVING THE OPERATOR NAMED ABOVE, OR THEIR EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, SERVANTS OR ASSIGNS AND INTEND MY SIGNATURE TO BE A COMPLETE AND UNCONDITIONAL RELEASE AND INDEMNITY TO THE GREATEST EXTENT ALLOWED BY LAW.
